Fashionable 16th Birthday Party Ideas

August 2, 2011

16th birthday party ideasLet’s face a simple fact; today’s teenagers are far more sophisticated and modern than they were even 20 years ago. This means that anyone challenged with coming up with a few good 16th birthday party ideas really has their hands full. After all, what does a 16 year-old want to do on their birthday? If you’re like most parents you might immediately answer that your teens might want to spend the day shopping, texting, talking with friends and generally ignoring their parents. This is one of the main reasons that throwing the proverbial “sweet sixteen” can be a bit of a challenge.

Fortunately, there are actually some excellent 16th birthday party ideas that can incorporate the activities and themes that most teenagers will respond to favorably. For example, there is always the “red carpet” Hollywood party. Whether you take it in the direction of a Hollywood movie premier or a hopping night club, the idea of the birthday boy or girl as the “star” or “celebrity” is always a hit.

16th birthday party ideasHigh-quality suppliers of party goods often have everything from the proverbial red carpet that can be rolled out in front of an entryway, to invitations that look just like the official envelopes used in awards ceremonies. The thing to remember about this theme is that it will require additional effort on the part of the attendees. For example, you might want to ask a few of the friends to serve as the “paparazzi” and give out disposable cameras to help them do their work. You might want to have everyone dress up as a favorite celebrity themselves, and then make special trophies available to the most creative or convincing.

16th birthday party ideasThere are less “over the top” 16th birthday party ideas that are quite similar to parties held when the same person was much younger. For instance, instead of favors and décor that emphasize the favorite TV or cartoon characters, there are plenty of themes that follow a teenager’s favorite new programs. For example, make a list of the television shows that they “must see” each week, and then develop a party based around one of them. This might mean a karaoke machine is in order if they are into the dancing and singing shows, or it could mean something as unique as a cooking theme if the birthday boy or girl is really into food shows.

It is not difficult to come up with innovative and appropriate 16th birthday party ideas, but the most important thing is to let the individual boy or girl serve as the strongest guide in the selection process.

Kids birthday parties are always something that is made special for this is something that theyll remember until they grow old. I love how this bog site is about birthday party games and ideas. And even though birthday parties are meant to be special, they need not to be pricey. Doing some do it yourself stuff could help you save a lot. I recently hosted my daughter’s 7th birthday and did most of the decorations myself with the help of a few close friends. We decorated the whole living room with Winnie the pooh balloons and even improvised our own bubble machine (using a small dan and a soap mixture). The best thing that my daughter liked is the Winnie the Pooh standee I made for her. It cost me waaay less than what I expected something like it would cost me. Its unbelievably easy and fun to do. Hope this helps.
