What better way to celebrate the Halloween season and a child’s birthday than hosting a Halloween birthday party for your child. October/November is the best time to have this birthday party theme because kids are in the mood for their trick or treat spoofs.
A Halloween birthday party can be both spooky and fun-filled. Just imagine the kids trying to scare each other in their respective Halloween costumes. The party is ideally for kids from 5-10 years old, and is best done for the late afternoon at dusk/dinner time. - Old candles – Halloween is not complete without the mystery that candle light creates.
- Jars – bring out all the antique jars that you have, and display them all around the house in the most random manner that you can think of.
- Black cloth – apparently, the color scheme would be all about darkness, blood, and of course, pumpkins! Take all the black cloth you can find as this will greatly enhance the look of the party with red splatterings and pumpkins.
- Home-made invitations – these days, there are already a lot of computer programs that have ready to print invitation templates. Make use of these resources to save on cost and at the same time have all the freedom to personalize your invitation.
- Dried flowers – this is something that you can simply pick up from your garden or backyard (or perhaps from your neighbor’s). Either way, get some flowers and let them sit out to dry up.
However, to make the Halloween Birthday party authentic and complete, there certain items that are most likely not available in your house and you’ll have to pick up at a store:
- Face Paint – you will need this either to paint drips of blood in the kids’ face, to make their face pale enough and their lips black. Just feel free to experiment with these paints!
- Witch hats – you can buy materials to create your own witch hats, or there are also a lot of stores for birthday party supplies that sell ready-made witch hats.
- Cobwebs – also available in various birthday supply stores, this is one item that should not be missing in a Halloween birthday party arrangement. Spray the cobwebs all around the venue, and throw in some small artificial spiders, as well.
- Plastic Skulls – intensify the spookiness of the party with a display of a number of skulls around the venue.
- Halloween Birthday Cake – You’ll have to buy the ingredients at a store but can make a spooktacular cake for this occassion or purchase from a bakery.
All these basic materials will surely take the kids to a whole new dimension as they attend your son or daughter’s very own Halloween birthday party! Just make sure you don’t scare the kids too much, though!
