Halloween is thrilling in itself, but when adding baking to the mix, things get a lot more spooky & creative, of course. There are so many different types of cakes that you can bake starting with the flavors of the cake, to the decorations that go on top. Halloween is the coolest holiday that you can bake for, you can make a vampire designed cake, or a werewolf designed cake, the choice is up to you.

There are steps to creating the perfect Halloween themed cake, first you decide on the flavor of the cake. Dark chocolate seems to be the most appropriate color for a Halloween Cake because Halloween is known for being dark and mysterious and scary; and a chocolate cake is the perfect setting for a Halloween Party. If you’re making something just for the kids you might want to try something like a vanilla cake with black and orange sprinkles baked in; every kid loves sprinkles and seeing the bold colors when biting into the cake is mesmerizing.

Once you find that perfect recipe for the cake, you then have to decide on a design or an edible figure of some sort to place on top of the cake. A great idea for a design is to ice the cake all around with white icing and then get a piping bag with black colored icing and make a design of a spider web. It doesn’t have to stop there at the spider web design; you can also bake mini chocolate cupcakes and set them up all around the cake and then create a face on top of them to give the illusion that they are spiders on a spider web. To take that cake to the next level, you could also get some chocolate covered biscuits sticks or black licorice to make into legs for the spiders. Baking Halloween themed cakes are also an excellent activity to do with the family; it’ll let the kids express their creativity and keeps them busy for hours.
