It can be tough to find a good theme for a kid’s birthday party once they reach a certain age. For instance, your ten year-old son may roll his eyes at the idea of a party using super heroes, comic book characters, or TV show themes. So, why not throw some football party ideas at him to see if he is interested? Most kids will appreciate this concept because it is somewhat mature and yet still offers a lot of fun.
What are some good football party ideas? If you begin to make a list of possibilities you will see that they are almost endless. For example, if all of the guests are local, you can easily use a small foam football as a handwritten invitation for each of them. If this is not possible, you can always print a “ticket” to the party and use an actual pro-football game ticket as a model.
Where the décor is concerned, some football party ideas would incorporate the boy’s favorite team logos or colors, but might also just use ideas based on a football stadium. For example, why not make the backyard look like a football field and hang it with banners or pennants like those usually carried by the fans.
You could make a face painting station where kids could slather on colors just like they do at regular games, or you could purchase a cardboard cutout of your child’s favorite player and have everyone take turns posing with the “celebrity guest”. You might even have each child make themselves a jersey with stick-on letters, and then take a “team photo” as well.
More football party ideas would include the foods to be served at such an event, and kids love all of the famous tailgate party options. This makes things much simpler and more affordable too because a lot of these foods are actually “finger foods”. Sandwiches, hot dogs, hot wings, burgers, chips and dips, and other snacks would make excellent party fare, and would be easy to keep refilling too.
A birthday cake is always a hit with kids of all ages, and for this sort of party it can look like a giant football, or it can just as easily be baked and decorated to look exactly like the game field too.
Naturally it is a good idea to still handout favors, even if a child thinks they are outgrowing a birthday party, and footballs, whistles, jerseys, and even glow sticks all make excellent choices for kids of all ages.
